Buggies for Babies Stroller-Thon rolls into St. Louis Union Station on July 17, 2004. It's a family oriented one-mile walk and 5K-race, encouraging moms and dads to bring the babies... and the buggies! Event proceeds will help cover the basic needs of babies at the Villa Maria Center.
Villa Maria Center is a program of Marian Hall Agencies. Villa Maria Center is a loving haven for adolescent moms and their babies. These young mothers have been removed from their homes, due to abuse or neglect, and placed in the foster care system. Often, there are not homes for the mother and child to be together, so they would be placed in separate foster homes. Villa Maria provides an opportunity for the mothers to stay united with their child and learn to care for themselves and their babies.
WHERE: The outside grounds at St. Louis Union Station will be the start and end point for the Stroller-Thon and the 5K. An after-party and awards presentation will take place near the Lake at the main entrance.
WHEN: Saturday, July 17, 2004 is the date. Packet pick-up is 6:45am to 7:45am, with the Stroller-Thon and 5K-race beginning at 8am. Both will finish around 8:30 am, and participants will gather near the Lake for breakfast, music, an awards ceremony, a raffle and more family fun.
WHY: To raise money and awareness for the babies at the Villa Maria Center.
HOW MUCH AND HOW MANY: Last year's first annual Stroller-Thon raised over $10,000 in net proceeds. We are confident that, with your help, we can build on last year's success and raise even more for the babies at Villa Maria Center.
WHAT WE NEED: You can help by donating money or contributing services/items that will lower our costs and make this a fun, successful event. Anything you can give is needed and appreciated!
